2010 "Half-time"

 

Mr. Media has had a busy first half of the year: stock market rebounds, then retracts, record deficits, oil spills, health care reform, Afghanistan, etc., etc! We enter the second half of the year with a strong backdrop of uncertainty, but one of potential opportunity. A key driver of the uncertainty is the political divide and heightened activity in domestic politics. Not a day goes by that I don't have a conversation involving some level of politics; some more positive than others. It is interesting to me because I have noticed it has begun to affect clients' outlook and consequently their financial decisions. It is important that as investors we do not let the emotions of politics supercede investment logic. How ever different our political views are as Americans, we all agree and work toward economic success in the long run. So long as you don't follow the example set by our government on how to manage debt and make rational decisions for your investments, I would think that you will have a pretty good chance for financial independence.
